Bisons’ season opener washed out

They better hope the sun is out Saturday in Pawtucket because the Red Sox and Buffalo Bisons are scheduled to play two International League games that day at McCoy Stadium.

The early season doubleheader is a by-product of Thursday night’s Opening Day contest between the Herd and PawSox being postponed due to rain. The same teams will try to open the season again at 6:15 p.m. Friday night. Righty Drew Hutchison is scheduled to start for the Bisons against lefty Henry Owens.

This was the first PawSox home opener rescheduled due to weather since 2003. The Bisons make up this game at noon Saturday, the first of two seven-inning games they will play that day. The four-game series concludes at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Buffalo’s home opener is 2 p.m. April 14 against Rochester at Coca-Cola Field.
