Suspect wanted in March 7 shooting nabbed Tuesday night

A routine traffic stop Tuesday night resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in a March 7 shooting on the 100 block of Brinkman Avenue, police said Wednesday.

Irving Mitchell, 32, of Buffalo, was arrested by homicide detectives after Police Officer Tom Sercu stopped Mitchell’s vehicle in the Northwest Police District and recognized him as an individual wanted by detectives for questioning in the shooting. The man Mitchell allegedly wounded had been able to drive himself to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Detectives charged Mitchell with first-degree robbery and first-degree criminal use of a weapon.
