Have you checked your most recent county and town tax bill? New York is one of 16 states that requires counties to contribute to Medicaid.

Mandated county contributions are highest in New York, by far. Counties in New York send nearly $7 billion per year to the state for Medicaid costs. Ask your representative how much of the “county service tax” is sent to Albany for Medicaid.
