Bailey gets call from Rochester as O'Reilly's status remains in doubt

NEWARK, N.J. -- The Sabres have recalled Williamsville native Justin Bailey from Rochester, as the status of Ryan O'Reilly for tonight's game in New Jersey continues to be in doubt.

Coach Dan Bylsma said this morning during his weekly appearance on WGR Radio that Bailey is here in case O'Reilly can't play and the center's status will be determined during the morning skate in Prudential Center, which starts at 11:30. Bylsma said Jack Eichel, who missed practice Monday for a maintenance day, will play.

Bailey is on his third recall with the Sabres. He did not record a point in his first eight games but did collect 22 shots on goal and showed strong work down low in several of his outings.

Since returning to Rochester March 1 after playing on the Sabres' Western road trip, Bailey had nine goals and 17 points in 15 AHL games. He finishes his season in Rochester with team-highs in goals (19) and assists (24) in his first year as a pro. The 43 points in 64 games rank him 10th among AHL rookies.
