Driver charged with DWI after striking hydrant on Grand Island

A Grand Island driver who crashed into a fire hydrant faces a drunken driving charge, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

David Campuzano, 23, struck the hydrant just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Park Lane and Ransom Road on Grand Island.

Campuzano was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, failing to keep right, making an unsafe lane change and operating a vehicle without insurance, the sheriff’s office said.

He was released on appearance tickets and is due in Grand Island Town Court on April 27.
