Deputies: Lockport man had BAC of .16 in Lewiston

LEWISTON – A Lockport man who registered a blood-alcohol level of double the legal limit will appear in Lewiston Town Court on Tuesday.

Tyler Chapman, 22, of Weld Street, was pulled over for speeding on Saunders Settlement Road, east of Garlow Road, at about 2:45 a.m. Friday, according to a Niagara County Sheriff’s Office report. He was driving 72 mph in a 45-mph zone.

A preliminary breath test came back positive for alcohol and Chapman was arrested at about 3 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated. At about 4 a.m. at the sheriff’s barracks, Chapman registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent, double the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to the report.
