There may be snow on the ground but the Buffalo Bisons are days away from beginning the 2016 season. The team's equipment arrived at Coca-Cola Field from spring training in Florida Monday afternoon and the team will have its first workout in the 716 on Tuesday.
Who will be at the workout? Glad you asked. The Herd released its Opening Day Roster on Monday with plenty of familiar names. The Bisons open the season Thursday at Pawtucket.
Returning to the Bisons are starting pitchers Drew Hutchison, who won 13 games for the Blue Jays, and Scott Copeland. Copeland was the Bisons 2014 Most Valuable Pitcher and returns after posting a 2.95 earned run average in 21 games for the Bisons last year.
Back in the bullpen is Ryan Tepera, Ben Rowan and Chad Jenkins.
Infielder Andy Burns returns and outfielder Dalton Pompey will begin the season with the Bisons. He led the Herd with 16 stolen bases last year before swiping four for the Blue Jays in the 2015 Major League Playoffs.
