Suspect in North Tonawanda murder located in Pennsylvania

U.S. marshals on Friday captured fugitive Dominick Cruz, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in a North Tonawanda parking lot.

Authorities believe that Cruz, 39, shot Mark D. Sternin Jr., 25, of the City of Tonawanda, and Tyler P. Sadauskas, 24, of Middleport, in January, killing Sternin and seriously wounding Sadauskas. They say Cruz escaped out a side door when law enforcement showed up at his workplace to arrest him.

U.S. marshals received a tip that led them to a home in Lancaster, Pa., where Cruz was apprehended without incident, the U.S. Marshals Service said. He is being held in Lancaster County Prison awaiting extradition to Niagara County.

Investigators say Cruz has ties to Buffalo and Rochester, as well as Chicago, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico. He faces charges of murder, attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon brought by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office
