Bisons finish spring slate with win

The Buffalo Bisons blanked Lehigh Valley, 5-0, in their final exhibition game of the year on Friday. The Herd finished spring training with a 7-5 record.

Drew Hutchison was sharp as he threw five shutout innings, allowing only three hits, to pick up the win. Pat Venditte worked two scoreless innings, and John Stilson closed out the game with a perfect ninth. On offense, Dalton Pompey was 2 for 3 with a double and Melky Mesa had a two-run triple.

Elsewhere, the Blue Jays assigned first baseman Jesus Montero to Buffalo.

The Herd broke camp and headed to Buffalo for workouts on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Bisons will open the season Thursday in Pawtucket.
