State budget rebuffs Niagara Falls’ bid for 75 percent of casino profits

Proposals to triple Niagara Falls’ share of casino profits are not included in the proposed state budget.

State Sen. Robert G. Ortt and Assemblyman John D. Ceretto had introduced separate bills that would alter how the government’s share of Seneca Niagara Casino profits are divided.

Both Ortt and Ceretto pushed to send 75 percent of what the state receives to Niagara Falls, with the state keeping 25 percent.

The existing formula – 25 percent for the Falls and 75 percent for the state – would be maintained under what’s on the table in Albany.

The proposed budget would extend the current funding formula through 2023, Mayor Paul A. Dyster said. It is currently set to expire at the end of the year.
