A woman fell from an 8-story parking ramp at Washington and East Eagle streets Wednesday morning in an apparent suicide, Buffalo police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said.
A witness said he was waiting at a nearby bus stop about 7:30 a.m. when he heard “a thump.”
“I looked over and I saw a body on the ground,” said Phil Begley, of Bolivar, who was in Buffalo for an appointment.
Begley said he ran to the body and called 911.
Parking ramp employees said a woman who was working in the booth when it happened also called 911. The ramp has surveillance cameras, as does the M&T Bank building across the street.
The witness from the bus stop, who did not want to be identified, said he saw the woman Tuesday on the street near the downtown library.
Drivers were asked to avoid Washington Street between Church and Clinton/Broadway due to the emergency responders at the scene of the Robert B. Adam Parking ramp.
