USA, Canada sledge teams win

Team USA and Canada, each a decisive winner in Tuesday’s first round, will meet a 7 p.m. Wednesday in the second round of games in the 2016 Ice Sledge Hockey Pan Pacific Championships at HarborCenter. In Wednesday’s first game Team Pan Pacific will face Korea at 3 p.m.

Declan Farmer scored twice and assisted on another goal and Adam Page of Lancaster and Brody Roybal had two tallies each in an 8-0 triumph over Team Pan Pacific, in Tuesday’s second game.

Joshua Sweeney opened the scoring with a power-play goal for USA only 2:57 into the first period. Nikko Landeros added another goal in the first period and Roybal, Farmer and Page tallied in the second. Farmer, Roybal and Page added goals in the third. Team USA had a 19-5 shots advantage.

Bo Reichenbach started in goal for Team USA and needed just five saves for the shutout.

In the tournament opener, Kevin Sorley, Rob Armstrong, Marc Dorton and Adam Dixon scored Canada in its 4-1 victory over Korea. Seun-Hwan Jung had the Korean goal.

There will be no games in the tournament on Thursday but the final round-robin games will be at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday. The bronze medal game will be at 1 p.m. and the championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
