Police officers involved in crash released from ECMC

The two Buffalo police officers involved in a crash Wednesday have been released from Erie County Medical Center, police said late Thursday morning.

A Buffalo Police Strike Force patrol car and another vehicle collided about 5 p.m. Wednesday at Sycamore and Fox streets.

The police vehicle was knocked on its side. The occupants, Patrol Officer Richard Hy, recently briefly suspended for his social media productions, and his partner, Bradford Pitts, suffered minor injuries, according to police spokesmen.

The officers had tried to stop a vehicle that almost hit some children getting off a school bus near Hickory and William streets. While they were following that car, a third vehicle struck their patrol car.

The accident remains under investigation.
