Lehner out for the rest of the season

The Buffalo Sabres were off on Wednesday but late in the afternoon came the biggest news of the week as the Sabres announced goaltender Robin Lehner had ankle surgery and would miss the rest of the season.

The terse press release read:

"The Buffalo Sabres today announced that goaltender Robin Lehner has undergone successful surgery on his right ankle and will be unavailable for the remainder of the team’s games this season."

Lehner suffered a high ankle sprain in the season opener and missed the next 39 games. He returned to the Sabres lineup on Jan. 15 and played in 21 games. He went 5-9-5 with a .247 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
