Buffalo State: Sophomore Connor Mergler (Williamsville North) was named the SUNYAC’s outstanding swimmer of the year after earning All-America status in three events. He’s the school’s first swimming All-American in 40 years. Mergler broke the conference and meet record in the 50 free (20.25) and also won the 100 and 200 free at the SUNYAC Championships. At nationals, he finished fourth in the 100 free, sixth in the 50 and 16th in the 200. … In softball, senior outfielder Chrissy Rennard was named the SUNYAC player of the week. Rennard went 15 for 30 with seven doubles, 10 runs 11 RBIs and a .595 on-base percentage during a 10-game week in Florida. She is batting .468 and has hits in 12 of 16 games, including seven multi-hit games.

D’Youville: Kalie McHenry (Sweet Home) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference pitcher of the week. In four games in Clermont, Fla., McHenry went 3-1 with three complete games, a 1.12 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 25 innings. She also made an impact offensively, batting .357 with a triple and a homer among her five hits. She’s batting .407 on the season.
