Buffalo drug dealer given federal prison term

Anthony Vargas III, 23, of Buffalo, who was convicted of selling a quantity of the designer drug 5-MeO-DiPT known on the streets as either “Foxy Methoxy” or ‘Foxy” was sentenced Wednesday to two years in federal prison by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel said Vargas provided the drug on Oct. 18, 2013 that sent a 17-year-old boy to a hospital after a bad trip on the drug. After taking the drug, the boy became dizzy and paranoid, had hallucinations and was hospitalized the next day “in an unresponsive state.” The boy was placed on a ventilator to help his breathing and he eventually recovered, the prosecutor said. Vargas was convicted of a drug distribution charge in the case.
