Bandits’ Thompson traded to Swarm

Thompson traded to Swarm

The Georgia Swarm has added another of the Thompson brothers to its roster in a trade that came just before the National Lacrosse League deadline of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The Swarm acquired Jerome Thompson from the Buffalo Bandits for a sixth-round draft choice in 2016. Thompson had been on the Bandits’ practice squad. He had five assists in two games this season as he had trouble finding playing time. Last year as a rookie, Thompson had 24 points in 13 games.

Georgia already had Miles and Lyle Thompson on its roster. They were first-round draft choices of the Swarm in the past two years. A fourth Thompson brother, Jeremy, currently plays for the Saskatchewan Rush after starting his career with the Bandits. The brothers grew up together in Central New York.

Meanwhile, the Bandits are preparing for their next game, a Saturday night contest in Georgia against the Swarm. They cannot clinch a playoff spot this week, but can come very close with a win and a Toronto loss. Multiple-team tiebreakers that would eliminate the Bandits still are possible even with those results.
