Man indicted for dropping drugs while running from cops in Royalton

LOCKPORT – John Davis Jr. of Niagara Falls pleaded not guilty in Niagara County Court Tuesday to charges of abandoning a bag of crack cocaine and a container of painkillers as he allegedly ran from police following a traffic stop about 1 a.m. Oct. 30 on Rochester Road in Royalton.

Davis, 35, of Ontario Avenue, was indicted on charges of third-, fourth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and not having a license plate light on his car.

Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said a container of oxycodone was found in a driveway near the vehicle, but the bag of crack wasn’t found until later that day in an orchard through which Davis had allegedly fled.
