BPO lifts us up with Beethoven, Vaughan Williams and a plea for peace

As we face an increasingly hectic and dangerous world, it’s nice to have a chance to sit back and listen to music of peace, music that reminds us of faith and higher ideals. So reasoned the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, presenting a concert called “Grant Us Peace.”

The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus is joining the orchestra for the soulful “Dona Nobis Pacem” of Ralph Vaughan Williams. The concert begins with Beethoven’s “Coriolan” Overture. In between comes the “Mathis Der Maler” Symphony of Paul Hindemith, a composer who spent some time in Buffalo.

Associate Conductor Stefan Sanders conducts. The concert takes place at 8 p.m. April 2, and repeats at 2:30 p.m. April 3. Tickets are $34.50-$86.50. Call 885-5000.
