Virginia K. Noecker, of Gowanda, retired Gowanda village clerk, died Thursday in the Lakeshore Campus of TLC Healthcare Center, Irving. She was 90.
Born in Gowanda, the former Virginia Karpus was a secretary for Crowell Home and Auto Supply Co. in Gowanda, then had a career of more than 20 years with the village, retiring in 1988.
Known as “Ginger,” she was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and in her early years was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.
She also was a member of the Slovenian Club, Gowanda Post 409, American Legion Auxiliary; and the James Cruden Post 5007, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Her husband of 29 years, Donald “Red” Noecker, a retired union carpenter, died in 2009.
Survivors include five sons, Dennis Erickson, S. Kip Erickson, Rick Noecker, Tim Noecker and Brian Noecker; two daughters, Nancy Skeates and Carol Park; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Church, 90 E. Main St., Gowanda.
