Injured pedestrian remains in serious condition

A young woman remained in serious condition Saturday evening in Erie County Medical Center after she was struck by a car on the city’s West Side early in the afternoon.

Buffalo police said that the 18-year-old woman was crossing Pooley Place at the corner of Grant Street just after 1 p.m. when she was struck by a car making a left turn. Investigators say the 24-year-old driver of the 2003 Buick lost control of the car after striking the pedestrian and the car crashed into a corner grocery. No charges were filed immediately.
