Leadership Buffalo named the following award winners to be honored at the Values Awards Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo on May 5: Samuel Savarino, Savarino Companies, Community Impact Award; Dennis and Leilani Black, University at Buffalo/United Way of Buffalo and Erie County Women’s Leadership Council, Service Award; Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Diversity Award; J.P. and Ulla Bak, BAK USA, Inclusion Award; and Trini Ross, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Openness to Change Award.


North Forest Office Space named Michael Blemel chief accounting and administrative officer. Blemel was director of finance at Niacet Corp. for nine years. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and a CPA. North Forest Office Space manages office parks throughout suburban Buffalo and Rochester, Austin and Dallas, Texas, and Denver, Colo.

Company Connections

Citizens Bank’s community development lending group provided a $4.58 million construction loan to Parkview Apartments of Buffalo LLC. The loan will provide financing for redevelopment of former Public School No. 59 on Best Street into a 26-unit affordable housing development.


Niagara Falls’ Maid of the Mist Winter Storage Facility project was one of the most significant construction projects of 2015, according to the Associated General Contractors of America. The project’s contractor, Buffalo-based LPCiminelli, was one of 23 winners to receive the association’s Alliant Build America Award.
