Police warn of phone scam involving phoney National Grid threat

Buffalo Police Monday night warned about a telephone scam targeting businesses by using fake recorded messages demanding overdue National Grid payments.

Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said two South Buffalo businesses reported receiving the calls, in which immediate service shutoff is threatened.

Anyone receiving the calls, either at a business or home, is urged to contact Buffalo Police at 911 and notify National Grid.
