Mother choked to point of passing out in front of child

A 35-year-old North Park Avenue man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly choking a neighbor woman until she passed out during an argument in the third block of North Park.

Tyrone Pettigrew was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child because his alleged victim’s child was present.

According to an arrest report, police cell block attendants reported finding Pettigrew had a narcotic pill on him. He was charged with promoting prison contraband and remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Monday night.
