Robert Moses Parkway should be renamed now
A March 15 News report on the redesign and proposed renaming of the Robert Moses Parkway was excellent and appreciated. We have an opportunity to capture the beauty of the river route from Lewiston to Youngstown, and the beauty of Ontario’s Niagara Parkway from Queenston to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Moses’ name should forever be a part of our region, and the Niagara Power Project is the best place to continue to honor his contribution. Like him or not, the history is there and is best symbolized by the Power Project. Not so with the parkway. Look to Ontario, where the parkway says Niagara and the power station is named for Sir Adam Beck – a fair and practical naming policy.
Appreciation also to our elected representatives’ effort to get this expedited. The time is now to usher in an era of greater tourism while highlighting the river that makes it possible and the master builder who developed its potential.
