Laura A. Weeks, volunteer, dedicated seamstress

Aug. 25, 1934 – March 13, 2016

Laura Anne Weeks, of Orchard Park, who was active as a volunteer, died March 13 in Mercy Hospital. She was 81.

Born in Lackawanna, the former Laura Anne LaFlamme was a 1952 graduate of Blasdell High School. She worked for various employers as an administrative assistant.

A dedicated seamstress, Mrs. Weeks sewed and knitted hundreds of items which she donated, including blankets, pillowcases, bed rail bags, walker bags, lap robes, prayer shawls and chemo hats for patients at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She also made virtually all of the clothes for her children, as well as wedding gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses for her daughters.

She was active in her church and as a volunteer at the FISH food pantry in East Aurora. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Orchard Park Historical Society and the Diamonds in the Rough senior citizens group.

Her husband, Wayne, died in 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Debora Morlock, Donna Lagel and Sandra Quinlan; four step-daughters, Sharon Dusel, Laury Miller, Wendy Lippert and Kathy Braun; a brother, Henry LaFlamme; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4536 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.
