The Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District will host the 15th annual Erie County Envirothon, a natural science competition for high school students, on March 31 and April 28 in Village Green Park in Elma. The topic will be “Invasive Species: A Challenge to the Environment, Economy and Society.”
To prepare for the Envirothon, students attend a workshop at which professionals give presentations on environmental topics. The winning team of students will advance to the state Envirothon. Scholarships are awarded to winning teams at the local and state levels.
Students teams may be formed from a high school, BOCES, 4-H club, Future Farmers of America club or any other sanctioned club that sponsors youth in grades 9 to 12. For more information, call Melanie J. Saunders at 652-8480.
