Passengers evacuated from faulty Metro Rail train

Passengers were evacuated Sunday evening from a Metro Rail train after a leak in an air brake line created friction, causing smoke to billow out, officials said.

The outbound train was stopped about 8 p.m. at the underground Amherst Station where passengers were evacuated from the train’s three cars as a precaution, said C. Douglas Hartmayer, spokesman for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority. No fire nor injuries were reported.
