CAMBRIA – Amel S. Jowdy III announced Friday he is running for Cambria town justice in this fall’s election.
It’s nothing new for Cambria to have a Justice Jowdy. In fact, the candidate’s father, Amel S. Jowdy Jr., has been serving on the town bench for 21 years, and the candidate’s grandfather, Amel Jowdy Sr., was on the bench for 28 years before that. Amel Jowdy III is running for the seat now held by Henry G. Peters, who has served for 20 years but is not expected to run for re-election.
“It was something I grew up around. It was something that always interested me,” said Amel Jowdy III, 47. “The opportunity presented itself with Judge Peters retiring.”
The youngest Jowdy is an engineer at General Motors.
