The Buffalo Bisons dropped a 10-5 decision to the Toledo Mud Hens on Thursday at the spring-training home of the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, Fla.
Ian Parmley reached base three times for the Herd, going 2 for 2 with a walk, RBI and run scored. Parmley, the parent Toronto Blue Jays’ seventh-round draft pick in 2012, finished the 2015 season at Double-A New Hampshire, hitting .278 with a home run and 16 RBIs in 43 games. First baseman KC Hobson homered in the loss, which dropped the Bisons to 1-1 in the spring. Hobson hit 14 homers in 130 games last year with New Hampshire.
Right-hander Casey Lawrence took the loss for the Bisons, allowing four earned runs over the first two innings. Scott Copeland allowed three runs on two this and two walks in his two innings, while Blake McFarland and Colt Hynes threw an inning each of shutout relief. The Bisons are back at it at 1 p.m. Friday against Lehigh Valley in Dunedin, Fla.
