Block club to discuss influx of Niagara University students

NIAGARA FALLS — The Deveaux Block Club has invited city and law enforcement leaders to its next meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday in Destiny Christian Church, 906 College Ave.

to discuss an influx of Niagara University students who have moved into the neighborhood..

Council Member Kenneth Tompkins, who lives in the Deveaux neighborhood, said parents are buying houses for college students and putting too many kids in a house — violating leases and causing parking problems.

“We are being taken over by college kids,” said Tompkins. “We want to bring everyone together to come up with a solution.”

Joining the block club members are City Court Judge Mark Violante; Niagara Falls Police Chief E. Bryan DalPorto, Niagara Falls Corporation Counsel Craig Johnson and City Code Enforcement Director Lou Fontana.
