Clarence driver who fled Cheektowaga police gets jail term

A Clarence man was sentenced by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski Tuesday to 60 days in jail on his plea deal to charges including misdemeanor unlawful fleeing from a police officer and reckless driving.

Matthew T. Lennert, 41, sped away from a Dick Road parking lot in Cheektowaga on Jan. 8 as a police officer approached his car on the suspicion of illegal use of drugs, authorities said. Lennert, who was tracked that day to his Maple Road home in Clarence, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, tempering with evidence and the two charges to which he pleaded guilty.
