FOOTBALL/CHEER: Special early-bird registration for Cataract youth football and Cheer for kids ages 5-13 will be held Saturday at the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club (725 17th St., Niagara Falls) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. There are no tryouts, no cuts and everyone plays. However, they are only accepting the first 25 fully registered student athletes per weight class. All participants will be trained in football by a USA Football Heads Up Certified coaching staff and cheer/dance and basic gymnastics by a qualified and experienced coordinator. Cost of $140 includes uniform, banquet and trophies. All fully paid registrants will receive $70 in Bills raffle tickets to sell and keep the proceeds. Bring child, copy of birth certificate, proof of insurance and proof of physical. GOLF: The Buffalo News’ annual golf preview section will be published Wednesday, April 6. Individuals or organizations hosting charity golf tournaments this summer can submit the information to be included by emailing it to sports@buffnews.com. Include the date and location of the tournament, any other pertinent details, and how those interested in participating can obtain more information. There is no charge to submit a tournament listing.

HOCKEY: The Buffalo Hornets Junior A Pre Prospects Skills and Conditioning Clinic begins Wednesday, March 16 and continues the 23rd and 30th at Holiday Rink at 5:15 p.m. A few openings remain in birth year 2001-1997. Goaltending positions are filled. Show up by 4:30 the first night if you can. We will have a registration table at the front door and you can pay the fee at that time. Each player should bring a light and a dark jersey. For the skills hour the forwards should wear light and the defense should wear dark. Light colors should be white, yellow or red. Dark shall be black or blue. Goalies can wear any jersey. For the game hour, we will issue a pullover to wear. Players will get a 15 minute break between the skill session and the game session. Boys and girls 3-10 years of age (2006-2010 birth years) are encouraged to sign up and register for the Buffalo Regals Hockey Club House League as soon as possible to take advantage of early bird pricing. $325 will cover the cost for at least 40+ sessions (games and practices) from September 16- February 17 as well as team uniforms and year-end trophies and banquet. Early bird openings for the Buffalo Regals Beginner Hockey Program have also opened for boys and girls 3-9 years of age to teaching the basics in skating, passing, shooting and position in a fun and energetic environment. Sessions run twice a week from September to February with two scheduled times per week (historically Thursdays and Sundays) and stay as consistent as possible for the convenience the player’s family. The 2016-17 season’s cost will be $180 for the whole season and includes the instructional ice times, a Regals jersey and a year-end trophy and Banquet. Full equipment is required for the program; referrals for inexpensive equipment packages for the registered players is available by request. SOCCER: Hamburg Monarchs Soccer Club is a non-profit soccer organization for children that is conducting registration for the upcoming Outdoor House League Soccer Season, which will run from May–July. Age groups include 4 & under, 6 & under, 8 & under, 10 & under, 13 & under, and 16 & under. Fees are $75 for U4 and $88 for U6-U16. The club plays at The Nike Base in Hamburg (2800 Lakeview Road).
