Man charged with having gun, bullets in Town of Niagara incident

LOCKPORT – Jamal R. Swanson pleaded not guilty Monday in Niagara County Court to an indictment accusing him of having a loaded gun and bullets when he was stopped Sept. 25 by Town of Niagara police.

Swanson, 29, of 20th Street, Niagara Falls, was indicted on a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He had bullets on his person, Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols told Judge Matthew J. Murphy III, who allowed Swanson to remain free on a $5,500 bail bond.

Two co-defendants who were present cooperated with the prosecution in exchange for reduced charges, Nichols told the judge.
