Collins shows bad judgment with endorsement of Trump
Rep. Chris Collins has endorsed Donald Trump. He stands with Trump. Does he stand with David Duke, the past leader of the Ku Klux Klan? Does he stand with the Trump supporter who attacked a black woman and called her scum at a Trump rally? Does he stand with the Trump who belittles a person’s looks? Does he stand with the Trump who mocks a disabled journalist? Does he stand with the Trump who claimed President Obama was not a natural born citizen?
Does he agree with Trump’s foolish plan to build a wall on our border with Mexico? Did Collins forget that in Mexico there are ladders, shovels and wire cutters to deal with such a wall? Does he agree with Trump’s call to slam the door on Muslim immigrants? It was not long ago in our history when we did the same thing to people from China and Japan. When we refused the landing of a ship filled with Jews trying to escape from Nazi Germany. When many businesses posted signs saying “Irish need not apply.” Perhaps it is time to dismantle the Statue of Liberty and ship it back to France.
Mitt Romney pointed out Trump’s shortcomings. There is no room to list them here, for they are many. Collins shows a lack of good judgment. My representative does not represent my views and I do not believe he represents the views of most Western New Yorkers. In the only sensible words from Trump, which I will paraphrase here, “Mr. Collins, you’re fired.”
