Lackawanna man charged with felony DWI after crash on Thruway

A 72-year-old Lackawanna man was charged with felony drunken driving by the State Police after he crashed on the state Thruway center median near the Walden Avenue exit late Saturday morning.

Carl R. Mayeski refused to submit to a breath test after he was taken to the State Police office in Buffalo. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because of a prior DWI conviction within the last ten years, according to the state Police. Following his arraignment in Cheektowaga Town Court he was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail pending further court proceedings.
