Surging after a massive 2015, comedian Amy Schumer has announced her spring tour, which includes a stop on May 7 in the First Niagara Center.
Tickets range from $39 to $99 and will be available for purchase at 10 a.m. March 18 at LiveNation.com, Tickets.com, the First Niagara Center box office or by phone at 1-888-223-6000.
Schumer starred in "Trainwreck," which earned a 3.5-star rating from Jeff Simon. Here's a quick line from his review:
"We all know [Schumer's character is] going to hook up with the guy for a drearily happy Judd Apatow ending. Bed check as populous as a U.S. Census has to end sometime. And then some real family emotional wallops introduce her to real emotional need; they also introduce to us Amy the actress and that’s where all high horse dismounts must begin. She’s got serious on-camera chops, no matter what."
The 34-year-old New York City native had already captured an Emmy for her "Inside Amy Schumer" sketches and earned an $8 million book contract. It's no surprise, then, that she's booking a slew of major arena shows for her spring tour.
Here's Simon's take on Schumer's rise to the forefront of cutting-edge female comedians, even if her routine is hyper-sexual: "I wouldn’t dream of labeling Schumer a 'sex comic.' But she’s no fool. She knows exactly how raunchy is her material and how full it is of a 'sex-positive' young woman’s wild and free take on sexuality. She also knows how groundbreaking and successful she has been as the standard bearer for the female comic generation A.J. (After Joan – Rivers, that is)."
