EquiFest planned at Erie County Fairgrounds

Demonstrations by trained horses, a question session with veterinarians and cowboy culture are among the attractions at the sixth annual EquiFest from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the ShowPlex and the Agricultural Discovery Center at the Erie County Fairgrounds, 5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg.

Gareth Selwood will put his Friesian Horses through their “Poetry in Motion” paces at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Award-winning Erie County 4-H Horse Bowl teams will give demonstrations. There will be a Breed Avenue, where visitors can get a close-up look various horse breeds. In all, there will be more than 100 exhibitors and vendors.

Veterinarians Dr. Erica Hutten and Dr. Joseph Tashjian will answer questions at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Vocalist Kimmy Hudson and cowboy poet Mark Munzert will perform at noon Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday. EquiFest is hosted by the Western Chapter New York State Horse Council.
