COVINGTON – State Police have charged a teenager with attempted rape and other sex crimes against a 10-year-old girl.
The charges, which also include first-degree sexual abuse, are for actions alleged to have occurred between January 2015 and January 2016 in the Wyoming County Town of Covington, State Police said.
The 17-year-old, formerly of Lockport, is being held in the Wyoming County Jail on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond. He was charged Thursday and arraigned in Warsaw Town Court.
The name of the teen, who now lives in Chambersburg, Pa., was not released. He also was charged with first-degree criminal sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
He is scheduled to appear in Covington Town Court later this month, State Police said.
