Darien Lake is pumping up its laser light show with some new technology.
This year’s show will have added pyrotechnics, full-color laser beams and updated music. Special LED glowsticks, which flash in sync with the show, will also be available for sale.
The Colorblast glow wands use radio frequency to synchronize their changing, flashing lights with the laser light show throughout the event. The park will sell them for $8.
Darien Lake’s Ignite the Night laser show takes place at the end of each evening at the park, at 10:10 p.m. from May 20 to Sept. 4 on the lawn at the Lakeside Amphitheater. The show is free with park admission.
The laser show originated in 1992 with relatively primitive green and yellow lasers. Among other improvements over the years, the show added a 100-foot-wide water screen and hydro-cannon blasters three years ago. The show ends with fireworks.
