The Buffalo Beauts already have pulled off one big upset in the National Women’s Hockey League. A repeat performance would give them a championship.
The Beauts take on the Boston Pride in a best-of-three series, starting on Friday night at the Prudential Center Practice Facility in Newark, New Jersey. The winner takes home the Isobel Cup.
Buffalo surprised Connecticut in the first round of the playoffs last weekend, winning two games to the Pride’s one to capture the series. The Pride disposed of the New York Riveters in two straight games.
The teams last met in the final regular season game. Boston defeated Buffalo, 3-2, in a game played in Harbor Center. The Pride had a 14-3-0-1 record during the regular season, while the Beauts were 5-9-0-4.
