Local GM plants raise $5,278 for Flint residents

Employees at General Motors’ Town of Tonawanda and Lockport plants raised a combined $5,278 to buy clean water for residents of Flint, Mich.

The Tonawanda engine plant raised $4,250, while the Lockport Components Holdings plant raised $1,028. Working with the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, the two GM plants sent their donation to the United Way of Genesee County in Michigan.

GM has more than 7,000 employees in Flint. Steve Finch, the Tonawanda plant manager, lived in Flint for 11 years, while William Tiger, the Lockport plant manager, also spent part of his career at the Flint engine plant.
