NEWFANE — A driver who crossed the center line and nearly struck another driver was found to be driving drunk, according to Niagara County sheriff’s deputies.
He was also found to be carrying two rifles in his vehicle, including one that was loaded.
Brandon M. Poole, 29, of Coomer Road, was stopped at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Lockport-Olcott Road. The deputy who stopped Poole said he called for a second patrol car because Poole kept reaching behind him, which caused the officer to be concerned for his safety.
The deputy who stopped Poole said there was one unloaded rifle in the vehicle and one that had one round of ammunition in the firing chamber along with several more rounds in the magazine.
Poole was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and other traffic violations.
