DUST BUSTERS – Members of the Orchard Park Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday for the annual spring cleaning of the Jolls House Museum, 4287 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park. Members are asked to bring along cleaning supplies, including rags, dust cloths and buckets.

SUMMER PREVIEW – The Clarence Concert Association will announce its summer schedule at its 18th annual Winter Gala at 6 p.m. Friday in Orazio’s Portofino Banquet Facility, 9415 Main St., Clarence. The gala will feature a musicale by members of the Clarence Summer Orchestra following cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and desserts. GUEST CHECK – The Kevin Guest House, which provides lodging for out-of-town families of patients in Buffalo hospitals, will benefit from the sixth annual Blues & Brews from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday in the atrium of the Ellicott Square in downtown Buffalo. Bluesman Hayden Fogle and his band will provide music, along with DJ Seitz & Sounds.

Flying Bison and Labatt will supply the beer, On the Roxx Liquors will bring the wine, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que will cater and there will be specialty chocolates from Sweet Jenny’s and Oh Pour L’Amour du Chocolat. SALUTING A SAINT – The annual Public Novena in honor of St. Joseph will begin Thursday evening and continue through the vigil of the feast day on March 18 in the Carmelite Monastery, 75 Carmel Road in North Buffalo. Services will begin with the rosary at 7 p.m., followed by Mass.

The Rev. Bernard Confer, chaplain of the Dominican Nuns of the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary in Buffalo, will conduct the services. All are welcome. Those who attend are asked to be modestly and suitably dressed.

LUCKY SHAMROCKS – The nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day-themed fundraiser, the 34th annual MDA Shamrocks program to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, continues through March 17 in all Lowe’s stores in the area. For a donation of $1, $5 or another amount at checkout, customers can purchase a paper shamrock that will be displayed at the stores.

Proceeds assist support groups and clinics and send approximately 50 local youngsters to MDA summer camp at Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush, near Rochester. For more info, call Bonnie Webster at (585) 424-6560 or visit mda.org/shamrocks.

SOUP’S ON – A chili, chowder and soup cook-off will benefit the SPCA Serving Erie County from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Exit 2 Bar & Grille in the Colvin-Eggert Plaza, 3191 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda. Prizes will be awarded in each category. In addition to the competition, there will be live music by SoundProof, raffles and auctions.
