The Old Country Buffet restaurant in the plaza at 3048 Sheridan Drive in Amherst has closed.
The restaurant, at the corner of Sheridan Drive and Niagara Falls Boulevard, is a casualty of parent company Ovation Brands’ bankruptcy filing.
In a press release to announce the bankruptcy Monday, the company said it would close “certain weaker restaurants and recapitalize its business.” That resulted in the closure of more than 90 buffet restaurants under various brands across the country. Last month, Ovation abruptly closed another 74 other underperforming locations.
Old Country Buffet has one remaining local restaurant at 4401 Transit Road in Amherst.
The contents of the restaurant will be auctioned off online Wednesday at AuctionNation.com. Included in the auction will be kitchen equipment, dishes, furniture and decor. Interested bidders can begin bidding on items online now, and can inspect auction items in person Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the restaurant.
