Man faces felony drunken driving charges

NIAGARA FALLS – A City of Tonawanda man was stopped and charged after a sheriff’s deputy said the man’s vehicle sped past him and then cut off another driver Saturday night on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

The driver, Daniel J. Gilbert, 27, of Ellicott Creek Road, was slurring his words and said he had been drinking at a friend’s house, deputies said.

Gilbert’s license had been revoked because of a previous drunken driving conviction.

He was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and other vehicle and traffic charges. He was held in Niagara County Jail on $900 bail pending a court appearance in Niagara Falls City Court on Wednesday
