Letter: Why do drivers complain when laws are enforced?

Why do drivers complain when laws are enforced?

OK, I’m just a naive out-of-towner. But it seems, too regularly, there are accidents in Buffalo involving rollovers, houses that are severely run into, power poles that are smashed and cars that are totaled.

What stupefies me is that these accidents occur on residential streets where, I assume, the speed limit is 35 mph or less. Yet there is an outcry when police crack down on enforcement of the traffic laws – speeding, running stop signs and red lights. Pity the poor kids on school buses.

Please explain. Also, let me know what is expected when I visit your fine city. No sarcasm meant. I love visiting. But I’d hate to hold anybody up. I just don’t get it.
