A Hamburg woman is accused of drugged driving after her vehicle crashed Sunday morning on Broadway in the Town of Alden and came to a rest in a front yard, authorities said.
Courtney Nowak, 27, was charged with driving while ability impaired by narcotics and criminal possession of a controlled substance, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The first deputies to arrive after the 10:20 a.m. crash observed signs of impairment in Nowak. Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz, a drug-recognition expert, determined she was impaired by drugs, the release stated.
Nowak and a passenger who suffered a lower-body injury were taken to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
Nowak was released on appearance tickets and is due in Alden Town Court at a later date.
