Employee suspected of taking lottery tickets

LEWISTON – Operators of a Center Street gas station and convenience store told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that more than $3,000 worth of store property, including lottery tickets were stolen over a three month period.

The store owner contacted deputies on Friday and said the suspected employee started working there one year ago.

The female clerk, whose name was turned over to the criminal investigation bureau, had reportedly been charging customers and then hitting the “no sales” button.

The store owner said every incident since February was on video surveillance. He said a total of $3,334 in cash and lottery tickets were stolen. The suspect’s name was withheld because she has not been arrested.
