The Deep South Taco restaurant planned for Hertel Avenue won support Tuesday from a Common Council committee that is recommending the restaurant be approved. The committee support virtually assures Deep South Taco will be approved when it goes before the full Common Council next week.
The restaurant already has received city Zoning and Planning board approvals. The Common Council approval is the final city approval needed.
Several residents expressed concern during the Council’s Legislative Committee meeting over noise and traffic issues also raised at Zoning and Planning board meetings. But Council members expressed satisfaction with restrictions placed on the restaurant by the Planning Board, and said they support the project.
Owner Richard Hamilton told Council members he is ready to move forward with the project.
